The government lawyers as well as those lawyers whose services are taken by the state government on retainership basis will now get enhanced fees following the Finance department’s concurrence.
Sources said, Public prosecutor (senior advocate) will get a retainer fee of Rs 18,240 and Rs 1,752 per appearance for main matter for substantive hearing while Rs 1,230 for miscellaneous matter. Any senior government lawyers appearing in the High Court will get monthly retainer fee of Rs 18,240 and Rs 1, 752 per appearance for main matter for substantive hearing while Rs 1230 for miscellaneous matter.
On the other hand monthly retainership for lawyers ( not senior) will be Rs 18,240 and Rs 1230 per appearance for main matter for substantive hearing while Rs 876 for miscellaneous matter. But they will have a maximum monthly ceiling of Rs 1,12,080. Similarly Additional Government Advocates will have the monthly ceiling of Rs 79,980.
The new fees will be admissible from September 1, 2021.
