Government has announced significant improvements in telecom infrastructure to ensure seamless mobile connectivity for pilgrims of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024. The Department of Telecommunications has partnered with major Telecom Service Providers including Airtel, BSNL, and Reliance JIO, to enhance the infrastructure and provide continuous coverage along the Yatra routes.

To ensure coverage, a total of 82 sites, including 31 new sites from Airtel, Reliance Jio and BSNL, will be active. This increases the total number of sites from 51 in 2023 to 82 in 2024. These upgrades aim to provide uninterrupted mobile connectivity to pilgrims and the public. The routes from Lakhanpur to Qazigund and from Qazigund to Pahalgam and Baltal are now fully covered with 2G, 3G, and 4G, including 5G technology in many areas.

Apart from this, key points for SIM distribution have been established at various locations to facilitate telecom services for the Yatris. These locations include Lakhanpur, Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, Chanderkot, Anantnag, Srinagar, Srinagar Airport, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and Baltal.
