Government is working with the vision to preserve and develop natural resources besides the goal to produce enough oxygen in the state. Various plans have successfully been implemented including setting up of oxygen plants to ensure enough oxygen availability in the state in each and every area for treatment purpose, stated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating an oxygen park at Sal Bagan, Gandhigram set up with the initiative of Forest department. After inaugurating the park, the Chief Minister and other guests took a stroll inside the park and unveiled a few pictures at the park. Then they paid floral tribute to the deceased forest worker’s memorial. Cultural information about state’s 19 tribal communities, images of various animals and yoga exercising facilities are there in the park. 

Chief Minister said, government is working on priority basis on developing natural sources of oxygen in the state besides production of oxygen through oxygen plants. He hoped that this park would become a centre for healthy body and mind. He said, being covered with greenery and blessed naturally, the park will also smoothen road to economic prosperity as it will attract tourists. He hoped that the park will be an encyclopedia of the state’s history. He suggested to take necessary steps towards modernization in terms of fooding, lounging and making it appealing to the tourists.

Chief Minister in the programme said, Tripura stands out among others states in providing oxygen. Maximum geographical area is covered with forests. Corona outbreak has taught the utmost need of oxygen. Oxygen plants were set up in every district with the joint initiative of central and state government to ensure enough oxygen availability in the state.

He also mentioned the Smriti Van initiative is running successfully in the state which is playing an important role in afforestation. He hoped for everyone’s cooperation in spreading awareness about the park and emphasized upon proper maintenance and preservation of the park. He called upon everyone to take the opportunity to enjoy the environment in the park with family besides celebrating Durga Puja.

Forest Minister N.C. Debbarma in the programme said, the park located near AMC area in very short span of time will become a centre of information and entertainment. He thanked the Chief Minister for opening the park in short time. The effects of expansion of culture and urban culture falls on afforestation. Besides expansion of urban culture, tree plantation is required for healthy and serene environment. The need of tree plantation was curated during the period of the Tripura kings some centuries ago where the park has been inaugurated. The park may play a significant role for future researches. The forest department has taken special initiative to maintain and collect different species of orchids found in the state. He hoped that the park will become a centre of attraction to tourists. Others present in the programme were MLA Krishnadhan Das, Chief Forest Conservator B.K. Sharma.
