Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu inaugurated the International Women’s Day celebration at Khowai Town Hall, organized by the Khowai district administration. Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized that women deserve equal rights, power, and opportunities in society.

He pointed out that ancient Indian history reflects the significant role of women in shaping society. Religious texts portray women as embodiments of strength and key contributors to cultural heritage. He also highlighted constitutional provisions aimed at women’s empowerment and urged the younger generation to be aware of these policies.

The Governor further discussed various central and state government schemes focused on women’s development, self-sufficiency, and upliftment.

Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, stressed the need for women to actively combat child marriage, abolish the dowry system, and contribute to a drug-free Tripura. She encouraged women to set goals and step forward in all fields.

Other dignitaries present included Khowai Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Singha Roy, Khowai Municipal Council Chairman Debashish Nath Sharma, and Khowai Women’s Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Meena Debbarma.

Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Panth delivered the welcome address. The event also featured the screening of a documentary and an award ceremony honoring women for their remarkable contributions in various fields across Khowai district.
