In a recent address to the media at the Raj Bhavan, Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu urged the public to socially boycott drug peddlers, labeling them as ‘anti-nationals.’ The Governor expressed concern over the collaboration between Indian drug peddlers and smugglers from Myanmar and Bangladesh, citing their clandestine and illegal drug activities as a severe threat to the northeastern states.
Governor Reddy Nallu, a former BJP leader from Telangana who assumed office on October 26, emphasized the necessity of curbing the alliance between Indian nationals and foreign counterparts engaged in drug peddling and smuggling. While acknowledging the efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the menace, he highlighted the importance of individuals associated with the illegal drug trade abandoning cross-border activities for effective curbing of dangerous trafficking.
During his media address at the Raj Bhavan, Governor Reddy Nallu stressed the significance of social awareness, calling on people from all walks of life to unite against the illegal drug trade and related activities. He categorically stated that drug peddling is a crime against the nation and urged collective action to protect the interests of both the people and the country.
In addition to addressing the drug-related concerns, Governor Reddy Nallu touched upon upcoming infrastructure developments, stating that Tripura is set to connect with Bangladesh through railway and roadways. He cited the completion of the Agartala-Akhaura railway project and the construction of the “Maitri” setu (bridge) between Tripura and Bangladesh as key initiatives that would enhance connectivity in the region.
Governor Reddy Nallu recently conducted meetings with top officials and leaders from various departments, including Rural Development, Urban Development, Tourism, and Transport. During these interactions, he urged officials to be more proactive in delivering prompt and efficient services to the public. The Governor also visited the Government-run Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital, underscoring the importance of providing the best possible services to the people in the healthcare sector.
