Foreign currency offerings and a CRPF constable’s full salary donation drew attention at Tripureshwari Temple in Tripura’s Gomati district, highlighting the shrine’s rising global spiritual appeal and growing importance among international devotees and tourists.

The revered Tripureshwari Temple in Udaipur under Tripura’s Gomati district witnessed an extraordinary display of faith and devotion on Monday when authorities opened the temple’s donation boxes after nearly three months. The counting process not only revealed a substantial volume of offerings from devotees but also highlighted the shrine’s increasing international recognition through the discovery of foreign currency contributions.

One of the most touching moments of the day came when CRPF Constable Buddhadeb Das donated his entire first month’s salary amounting to Rs 33,310 to the temple. The heartfelt contribution drew admiration from officials, temple staff, and devotees present during the counting process. Many described the gesture as a rare act of devotion and gratitude, adding a deeply emotional dimension to the proceedings at the historic shrine, popularly known as Matabari.

Officials supervising the counting process also discovered foreign currency notes and coins among the donations. These included US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepalese Rupees, and Bangladeshi Taka. Temple authorities stated that the presence of multiple international currencies reflects the growing reputation of the shrine among pilgrims and tourists visiting from different parts of the world.

A 16-member team constituted by the Gomati District Magistrate’s office carried out the counting operation under strict security arrangements. The exercise involved opening and counting collections from 16 donation chests and boxes installed across the temple premises. Despite intermittent rainfall causing temporary interruptions, officials ensured the process continued smoothly throughout the day.

Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chatterjee said the counting operation was expected to continue until late evening due to the large number of offerings received. Authorities maintained close monitoring throughout the exercise to ensure transparency and proper documentation of the collections.

Temple authorities later announced that the collected funds would be utilized for renovation and maintenance work, conducting religious rituals and festivals, and improving facilities for visiting devotees. The administration believes these developments will further strengthen the temple’s role as one of Tripura’s most significant spiritual and cultural landmarks, attracting worshippers from across India and abroad.
