The first-ever Tribal Sports Conclave in Ladakh concluded today at the SAI Centre Kargil and KGBV Chiktan under the nationwide observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsha Pakhwada. The event was organised by the Tribal Research Institute, University of Ladakh, with support from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
More than 200 tribal athletes from across Ladakh participated in Taekwondo, Boxing, and Kho-Kho competitions, including teams from Ladakh Police.
Anayat Ali Shotopa, General Secretary of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association and Chief Organiser, thanked the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Tribal Research Institute, and all supporting associations for making the conclave a success.
The conclave concluded with the distribution of medals and trophies. Shujat Ali in boys and Kulsoom in girls’ categories were awarded Best Boxer, while Asiya Banoo and Tajammul Hussain were declared Best Taekwondo Players. The event is being hailed as a significant step toward identifying and nurturing tribal sporting talent in Ladakh.
