Festival of Janamashtmi being celebrated in several parts of country

Krishna Janmashtami, a festival celebrated to commemorate Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary, is being observed today. It will be observed in some parts of the country tomorrow also.
 
The festival holds great significance for devotees, who observe fasts, offer prayers, and decorate temples with lights and flowers. This is Lord Krishna’s 5250th birth anniversary. He is believed to have born on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada.
