The present state government aims to make farmers self-reliant by increasing the production of food grains and horticultural crops. The government is ready to provide all kinds of support to the farmers to enhance agricultural product production. For this reason, special importance has been given to making farmers financially self-reliant by providing timely seasonal seeds, fertilizers, and modern agricultural machinery.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath stated this while inaugurating the Krishi Swarna Samridhi Week, a celebration, and distribution of agricultural products organized by the Unakoti District Agricultural Science Centre at Nazrul Kala Kendra in Fatikray on Tuesday.

On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized doubling the income of farmers through development, and the state government is working in alignment with the Prime Minister’s direction. During his visit to Unakoti District, the Agriculture Minister also inaugurated a two-story agri-market stall at Kanchanbari at a cost of ₹228.47 lakh and an agri-market stall at Sripur at the cost of ₹86 lakh. Fisheries and ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das was present at both events.

Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das remarked that there are numerous opportunities for self-reliance in agriculture-related fields. The government has many schemes in this area, and it is possible to become self-reliant by utilizing these schemes. The government has also focused on increasing the production of fish and animal feed products in the state.

Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Sharadindu Das, also spoke on the occasion. The welcome speech was given by the Horticulture Officer of Unakoti District KVK, Dr. Ratan Das. MDC Birendra Debbarma, Senior Scientist of Agricultural & Science, Biswajit Das, President of Tripura Farmers Club, Pradip Baran Roy, Social Workers Pabitra Debnath and Nil Kanta Sinha, and others were present.

A total of 620 farmers were given 50 kg of potato seed, 700 farmers received packets of vegetable seeds, 700 farmers were given orange seedlings, and 62 farmers were provided with hand spare machines. Exhibition stalls showcasing agricultural products were set up to celebrate the Krishi Swarna Samridhi Week at the event venue. After the inauguration ceremony, the guests visited these stalls.
