In a significant development aimed at bolstering rail connectivity in the Northeastern region of India, the Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Weekly Express has been extended up to Agartala in Tripura. This expansion was announced by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NF Railway in a press statement issued on Friday.

Train no. 12519/12520, the Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Weekly Express, will now offer services up to Agartala, covering several key stoppages between Guwahati and Agartala, including Ambassa, Dharmanagar, Badarpur, New Haflong, Lumding, Hojai, and Chaparmukh Stations.

According to the press statement, the extended service will commence from Agartala Station on Thursdays at 06:00 am and is scheduled to arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Station on Saturdays at 04:15 pm. In its return journey, train no. 12519 (Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya-Agartala) Express will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Station on Sundays at 07:50 am and reach Agartala Station on Tuesdays at 07:50 pm.

This extension is part of the Ministry of Railways’ efforts, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to enhance rail connectivity between the North-eastern states and major cities across India. It is expected to facilitate easier and more convenient travel for passengers between Agartala and Mumbai.

Additionally, the expansion of train no. 12513/12514, the Secunderabad-Guwahati Weekly Express, has been extended up to Silchar in Southern Assam. The train will make crucial stops between Guwahati and Silchar at Badarpur, New Haflong, Lumding, Hojai, and Jagiroad Stations.

The extended service, numbered 12514 (Silchar-Guwahati-Secunderabad) Express, will now depart from Silchar Station on Wednesdays at 07:45 pm and is scheduled to arrive at Secunderabad on Fridays at 03:35 am. In its return journey, train no. 12513 (Secunderabad-Guwahati-Silchar) Express will commence from Secunderabad Station on Saturdays at 04:35 pm, reaching Silchar Station on Mondays at 11:45 pm.

These expansions in train services are poised to bridge the connectivity gap, providing residents of remote Northeastern areas with enhanced access to major cities such as Mumbai and Secunderabad. This move is expected to facilitate economic growth and ease of travel for the region’s residents.
