Tripura Congress which is always dogged by internecine in fights, squabble and factionalism, notwithstanding its moribund condition is now facing steady erosion with a section of leaders, especially the youth leaders leaving the good ol’ party in steady stream. They are unhappy at the sudden change of guards in the TPCC by the ‘High Command’ replacing incumbent president Pijush Kanti Biswas by Birajit Sinha. The youth activists, who were holding party positions at various levels in Youth Congress, are being led by Pijush Biswas’s son and former Youth Congress president Pujan Biswas.
Pujan Biswas had earlier resigned from the Youth Congress president’s post, on Sunday he quit the party’s primary membership too.
While speculations were also rife that Pijush Kanti Biswas would also leave the Congress and might well join another political party, his son Pujan Biswas seemed uncertain about his future course of actions.
Pujan Biswas denied that he would join any party- BJP or TMC- but said a ‘platform’ would be floated for fighting for ensuring ‘democratic rights’ of the people. And, he seemed to have found an ‘idol’ for such a fight in TIPRA Motha head Pradyot Kishore Debbarman.
In a press conference on Sunday Pujan Biswas tried to repeatedly praise Debbarman and also supported his ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand. He said, since the ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand is not unconstitutional it should be supported.
“I am always in regular touch with him”, Pujan Biswas said about Debbarman.
