ICFAI University Tripura, celebrating 20 years of excellence in professional education, organized a massive tree plantation drive on July 16, 2024, along the newly constructed 108B National Highway from Lembucherra to Fatickcherra. This initiative aims to enhance real-life sustainability, combat climate change, protect ecosystems, prevent soil erosion, boost biodiversity, and provide habitats.

The event commenced with an inaugural program presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder. Distinguished guests included Dr. Avinash M. Kanfade, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest Force, Tripura, who served as the Chief Guest, Shri Subash Datta, Sub-divisional Magistrate, Mohanpur, as the Special Guest, and Shri Subrata Paul, Range Officer, Urban Forestry Range, Salbagan, as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Halder highlighted ICFAI University’s contributions to educational excellence over the past 20 years. Shri Subash Datta compared the university’s growth journey to a tortoise’s steady pace in the first decade and a cheetah’s speed in the second, expressing hope that ICFAI would soar like a rocket by 2050. Dr. Kanfade discussed the adverse effects of deforestation and praised ICFAI’s social initiatives.

Following the inaugural program, dignitaries, faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders planted around 1,000 saplings along the highway. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. A. Ranganath, Registrar of the University, expressing gratitude for the successful program.
