England registers historic win by defeating Australia in 4th Ashes Test

Must Read

England ended an almost 15-year-long wait with a spirited victory on Australian soil in the fourth Ashes Test, defeating the hosts by four wickets in the Boxing Day contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. England broke its 18-match winless streak in Australia, denying the host a series whitewash. Josh Tongue led the charge with a five-wicket haul as Australia were dismissed for 152 in their first innings. Brydon Carse took four in the second inning. Australia were dismissed for 152 and 132, with only Travis Head making 46 and Steve Smith with 24 runs reaching notable scores.

England struggled initially, scoring 110 in its first inning, with Harry Brook top-scoring with 41 runs. Chasing 175 in the second innings, England overcame early wickets, with Jacob Bethell scoring 40 and Zak Crawley 37. The series now heads to Sydney for the fifth and final Test on 4th January, with England restoring pride after a bruising Ashes campaign which saw them lose the first three games in Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide as Australia retained the urn.
