As the West Bengal assembly elections is nearing, the campaigning is now reaching its peak. Star campaigners from various parties are holding meetings, rallies, and public gatherings to win over voters. Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today addressed a public meeting in Birbhum in support of party candidates.
He strongly criticised the misrule of the Trinamool Congress. Shri Shah said that leaders of the ruling party are corrupt and got involved in multiple scams, including municipal and education recruitment, ration distribution, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He alleged that although the central government provided funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission, the benefits did not reach the people of the state. He also accused the Trinamool Congress government of giving shelter to infiltrators, thereby depriving the people of Bengal.
The Home Minister further alleged that despite being a woman, the Chief Minister has failed to ensure the safety of Bengal’s mothers and sisters. Alongside public meetings in Khoyrasol in Birbhum and Khandra West Burdwan, he will also hold a roadshow at Rajendra Prasad Avenue in that district. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, at a public meeting in Suri (Birbhum) alleged that after the CAA, the BJP is attempting to implement NRC.
She claimed they are trying to change Bengal’s history. On the issue of employment, the TMC supremo targeted the BJP, saying that many posts in the army remain vacant. She demanded that the BJP government publish statistics on how many jobs have been created in the past 12 years. She is scheduled to hold workers’ meetings in Galsi in East Burdhaman and Durgapur in West Bardhman.
CPI(M) and Congress candidates are also participating in public meetings and door-to-door campaigning. One of the top Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi, is arriving in the state tomorrow for election campaigning. He will hold election rallies in Raiganj in North Dinajpur, Chanchal in Malda, and Samserganj in Murshidabad.
In Tamil Nadu, State BJP Chief Nainar Nagendran, while campaigning at Satur today, said that the cracker Industry is facing many issues due to the inactive DMK Government officials. Interacting with the media after visiting the accident site today, in which three labourers were injured, he said that the issue will be taken up in future. He demanded 10 lakh rupees in compensation for those who were affected in the blast.
DMK MP Kanimozhi, while campaigning at Tirunelveli today, criticised the AIADMK party, which doesn’t stand up for the rights of the people of Tamil Nadu. While campaigning, she listed out the various achievements of the DMK Government in the education sector and the welfare of women. She said that the demands of Tamil Nadu remained unsolved by the Centre.
