Education Ministry issues directives to ensure students’ safety in schools

        The Ministry of Education has issued a directive to all States and Union Territories to take urgent steps to ensure student safety and well-being. This includes mandatory safety audits of schools and child-related facilities as per national safety codes, training for staff and students in emergency preparedness, and the provision of psychosocial support through counselling and peer networks.
        The Ministry, in its recommendations, stressed on several steps to be taken by the States and Union Territories for students. These steps are Preventive Safety Measures, Awareness and Training, Psychosocial Well-being, Reporting Mechanism, Public Responsibility. The Ministry has also urged Education Departments, School Boards, and affiliated authorities to act without delay in implementing the above measures.
