The Election Commission has once again issued a notice to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav regarding his two voters ID cards. The Commission has sought details about the voter ID card (EPIC) displayed by Tejashwi Yadav on 2nd August before the media. He is accused of possessing two EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) cards.
The Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Mr. Yadav, had shown his voter ID card to journalists during a press conference in Patna. In this matter, the Commission had stated that the card shown was not issued by the Election Commission.
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Digha Assembly constituency had earlier sent a letter on 3rd August to Mr. Yadav, asking him to submit the original EPIC card along with relevant details for verification. However, no response has been received so far.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has alleged that the Election Commission is raising such issues at the behest of the BJP. Tejashwi Yadav has said that the Commission should first respond to the questions raised by his party regarding the special summary revision (SIR).
Meanwhile, even after five days of the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 1, no political party has filed any claims or objections regarding the names of voters that were removed.
