Calling for intensifying fight against ‘fascist forces’, the former Chief Minister, also the leader of opposition Manik Sarkar on Wednesday accused the BJP led government at the centre and state of the rising unemployment rate.
Sarkar was addressing the 15th state conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state committee here at Agartala Town Hall on Wednesday.
“The rate of unemployment is rising at an alarming rate across the country due to the corporate-policy of the ruling BJP government. Serving the interest of the corporates, the BJP government has been avoiding the filling up of vacant posts lying in different government sectors.” Sarkar said.
He alleged, “The education and health sectors including the public sector undertakings are being handed over with the corporate sectors for high profit. The education and health sector has now become business, where the weaker section and middle-class people are being deprived at large.”
The former Chief Minister alleged, “This government is ruling the nation with its divide and rule policy. The people belonging to the minorities including Muslims and Christians are being deprived.”
He alleged that minorities were being “oppressed” in various places of the state and the country, with organisations such as the VHP ”trying to inject communal hatred among people.
“Since after assuming power here in Tripura the BJP government had started throttling the voice of the oppositions and discovered a very serious attack on the democratic rights of the common citizens of the state. This is time now to expose the ”misdoings” of the BJP government, which made ”false promises” to get votes,” Sarkar said.
Manik Sarkar called upon the Left activists and the youths of the state to get united in large numbers and intensify the fight against the rising unemployment under the rule of ‘fascist forces’.
