Bangladeshs interim government has directed Hindu community members to avoid playing musical instruments during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations at the time of azan and namaz.
Bangladeshs Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday said that puja committees have been asked to turn off sound systems and avoid playing musical instruments during azan and namaz, adding that the organisers had agreed to the request, India Today reported.
Durga Puja is widely celebrated by the Hindu community members in Bangladesh.
He said the ministry has taken the initiative to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration of Durga Puja.

He said that according to the information they have received so far, there will be 32,666 puja mandaps across the country, and that number will increase.
Bangladesh witnessed a political change last month when massive demonstrations against PM Sheikh Hasina forced her to leave the nation and the fall of her administration.
She came to power for another term earlier this year after winning the general polls.
Following her exit, several videos emerged on the social media and news reports from Bangladesh emerged which showed radicals attacking Hindu houses and temples in the Islamic nation.
