On the second day of his visit to Tripura, Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan began his engagements by leading a spirited Tiranga Yatra in Belonia, South Tripura. The yatra was held to celebrate the valour and sacrifice of India’s Armed Forces following the successful Operation Sindoor, and drew enthusiastic participation from the public.

The BJP South District Committee  organized the rally which started from Belonia Kalinagar, New Motor Stand, where participants gathered in large numbers, waving the Indian national flag with pride. Patriotic fervor filled the air as attendees sang stirring patriotic songs and chanted slogans such as “Pakistan Murdabad” and “Hindustan Zindabad.” The vibrant display of nationalism and solidarity resonated throughout the procession.

The event saw the participation of several prominent leaders and political figures, besides Union Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L. Murugan. Alongside him were State Minority and Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Zilla Sabhadipati Dipak Dutta, South District BJP President Dipayan Chowdhury, and State BJP General Secretary Tapash Deb. Their presence underscored the significance of the rally in uniting the community in support of the nation’s armed forces.

In addition to these senior leaders, the rally also witnessed active participation from MLAs representing various constituencies, presidents of seven mandals, and numerous leaders and workers from different party fronts. This collective show of support symbolized the unity and resolve of the community in honoring the sacrifices made by the Indian Army.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister L. Murugan lauded the success of Operation Sindoor, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership and the unwavering dedication of the Indian Armed Forces. He emphasized the flawless execution of the mission, highlighting the exceptional coordination between intelligence agencies and defense personnel in eliminating threats to national security.

“Our brave soldiers have once again proved that India’s security is non-negotiable. Their courage, commitment, and sacrifice embody the true spirit of patriotism. Operation Sindoor sends a clear message—India will never bow down to terrorism,” said L. Murugan. He stressed that the government’s robust stance on terrorism and national security has reinforced public confidence in the country’s defense capabilities.

The minister further asserted that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, India has firmly adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism. He assured the public that the government would continue to prioritize the safety and security of the nation by strengthening the armed forces and supporting their efforts in safeguarding India’s sovereignty.

The rally concluded with a strong message of patriotism and unity, as participants pledged their continued support for the Indian Army and the government’s efforts to maintain peace and security. The overwhelming turnout at the event and the passionate displays of patriotism demonstrated the community’s solidarity in acknowledging the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

As the rally came to an end, participants vowed to uphold the spirit of nationalism and remain vigilant against any threats to the nation’s security. The success of Operation Sindoor and the subsequent show of support from the community reflect the unwavering spirit of the people in standing with the Indian Armed Forces in their relentless fight against terrorism.

Following the Yatra, Dr. Murugan addressed the media during a press conference in Belonia, where he reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that border villages are the first villages in development. He stressed the government’s focus on infrastructure and socio-economic development in border regions.

Highlighting the district’s performance, the Minister stated that 97.55% of MGNREGA job card holders in South Tripura are receiving work, with 2,083 beneficiaries completing the full 100-day job guarantee. He noted that over 21,889 farmers are receiving ₹6,000 annually under the PM-KISAN scheme, while 3,842 have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and 2,040 farmers have received Soil Health Cards. He lauded the active participation of women through 7,486 Self Help Groups (SHGs), and the emergence of over 28,000 ‘Lakhpati Didis’ as a symbol of grassroots entrepreneurship. The Minister also spotlighted the district’s potential under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, with cashew nut production and value addition being promoted for export under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework.

Dr. Murugan celebrated the academic achievement of Suraj Basu, a student from a government school in South Tripura who became the state topper with 99.2% marks — an inspiring example of educational excellence from the region. He emphasized that the district’s progress is aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas for a Viksit Bharat.

 

Later, the Minister visited the Sudhir Sarkar Para Anganwadi Centre under the West Jolaibari Gram Panchayat. During the visit, he interacted with children and Anganwadi workers, planted a litchi sapling on the premises, and participated in Sadh-vakshan — a traditional ritualistic meal for an expecting mother. He was joined by Tripura’s Cooperation Minister Shri Shuklacharan Noatia and local elected representatives.

Concluding the day’s engagements, Dr. Murugan arrived in Agartala where he called on the  Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof Dr. Manik Saha.
