Benchmark domestic equity indices ended over 0.8 per cent down each. The Sensex lost 706 points, to close at 80 thousand and 80. Similarly, Nifty dipped 211 points, to settle at 24 thousand 500. The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended on a negative note. The Mid-Cap index declined 1.1 per cent, and the Small-Cap index down nearly one per cent. The decline came after the imposition of additional US tariffs since yesterday. In the Sensex pack, 23 out of 30 companies logged losses. Among the top laggards, HCL-Tech plunged over 2.8 per cent, Infosys dipped nearly two per cent, and Power-grid decreased around 1.9 per cent. Among the top gainers, Titan gained over 1.2 per cent, Larsen and Toubro rose 0.7 percent and Maruti-Suzuki climbed 0.6 per cent.
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, Among top laggards, Services dropped over 2.2 per cent, Telecommunication slipped around 1.7 per cent and IT dipped nearly 1.7 per cent. on the other hand Consumer durables was bucking the trend.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as shares of 2651 companies declined, and shares of 1458 companies advanced, while shares of 149 companies remained unchanged.
