Domestic equity markets fall for second consecutive session; Sensex slips 143 points, Nifty 78 points

Benchmark domestic equity indices ended lower today, extending their losses for a second consecutive session.
 
The Sensex dropped 143 points, or 0.19 per cent to close at 73 thousand 710. The Nifty declined 78 points, or 0.34 per cent to settle at 22 thousand 811.
 
In the broader market on the National Stock Exchange, the Midcap 100 index shed 1.6 per cent, while the Smallcap 100 index plunged 2.4 per cent.
