On Sunday night, a physician employed at GB Hospital in Agartala, identified as Dr. Sanghamitra Das, was apprehended on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and displaying misconduct towards on-duty police officers.
According to authorities, Dr. Das, the son of Ratan Das and a resident of the capital city, was passing through the vicinity of Bishalgarh SDPO Office when police patrol units intercepted his vehicle.
“We attempted to reason with them, considering Dr. Das’s profession, but they were belligerent and unyielding. Dr. Das went as far as to make threats, claiming political influence,” stated a police official.
Subsequently, law enforcement officers conducted medical assessments on all four individuals at Bishalgarh hospital. Concurrently, local residents present at the scene advocated for stringent measures against the detained individuals for their disrespect towards the on-duty police personnel.
