Actor Dhanush and his ex-wife Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth made a rare public appearance together to celebrate a major milestone in their elder son Yathra’s life. The duo reunited for Yathra’s school graduation ceremony, marking a heartfelt moment that captured attention both online and offline.
Dhanush, known for his versatility across Indian cinema and his role in films like Raanjhanaa, took to Instagram to share two candid pictures from the event. The photos show Dhanush and Aishwaryaa standing beside their son, proudly embracing and congratulating him on his academic achievement. In the pictures, Dhanush is seen sporting a clean crew cut with a white shirt and black trousers, while Aishwaryaa looked elegant in an off-white dress. The actor captioned the post, “Proud Parents #yathra,” accompanied by two heart emojis.
This reunion comes nearly three years after the couple publicly announced their separation. On January 17, 2022, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa shocked fans with a joint statement declaring their decision to part ways after 18 years of marriage. The statement emphasized mutual respect and understanding, stating:
“18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other… Today we stand at a place where our paths separate… Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.”
The Chennai family court officially granted their divorce on November 27, 2024.
The former couple, who got married in 2004 in a grand ceremony attended by prominent figures from the film and political industries, have continued to co-parent their two sons with mutual respect and affection. Their recent appearance together shows that they continue to support each other as parents.
