Vishwa Hindi Diwas celebrated in Dhaka yesterday. High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma joined the Vishwa Hindi Diwas celebrations at Dhaka University.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Verma said language finds its way to reach the people who appreciate each other’s culture and that is the essence of language.
He said the Hindi language is just a medium but we are celebrating the importance of language as a connector between our two societies. The High Commissioner read out the special message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this occasion. He said, the biggest strength of the Hindi language is its originality and simplicity, and due to that the use of the Hindi language has increased in many countries.
As a part of the World Hindi Day celebration, the prizes were distributed to the winners of the various activities related to the Hindi language held at the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University. Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Dr. Maksud Kamal also participated in the event.
A cultural programme showcasing the richness of the Hindi language and culture was also organised on the occasion by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India in Dhaka.
