Def Min Rajnath Singh underlines pivotal role of IAF in country’s space programme

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla in New Delhi today. Mr Singh congratulated Group Captain Shukla on his achievement and termed it as a major milestone in India’s journey towards human spaceflight. In a social media post, the Minister stated that he discussed the inspiring space journey with Group Captain Shukla. Mr Singh said that the vital experiments Mr Shukla undertook in orbit, advances in science and technology and the road ahead with India’s pioneering Gaganyaan mission. The Defence Minister also underlined the pivotal role of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in India’s space programme, including astronaut selection, training, and mission support in collaboration with Indian Space Research Oganization (ISRO).
