Cultural fraternity of the city bade tearful adieu to an eminent singer – Madhuchhanda Chakraborty (58) who died on Thursday due to liver related ailemnts in a private hospital. She was in hospital for some days. As the news of her demise came it sent a shock wave across the city and cultural activists gathered at the hospital.
On Friday her mortal remains were brought to Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan where people from all fields offered their last homage to the departed artist.
Madhuchhanda Chakraborty was not only an eminent artist she was also involved in various activities especially related cultural movements.
ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury among hundred other joined the mourning.
After offering floral tribute to the singer, Chowdhury said, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of such a talented artist. The loss in the music world is irreparable”. The ICA minister informed the gathering the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who was out of city also condoled the untimely demise of the singer.
“ She was a guiding personality for the young artists”, he said and added that “the State Government always stood behind the Cultural fraternity so that the State makes advancement in the cultural sphere. Her sudden death is a great loss. With a joint effort we have to try to fill void”..
