Indias new batting sensation Shubman Gill missed the first two matches in the Cricket World Cup 2023 as he is suffering from dengue.

Though Gill travelled with the team to Ahmedabad where India will take on Pakistan on Saturday, there is still uncertainty about his participation in the mega clash.

Now, former Indias star allrounder Yuvraj Singh, who was the Player of the Tournament in World Cup 2011, said he has strengthened Gill, whose absence allowed Ishan Kishan to slip into the playing squad against Australia and Afghanistan.

Sharing his own experience of playing the World Cup 2011 battling cancer, Yuvraj told ANI as quoted by Times Now, Shubman Gill ko maine tagda kar diya hai (I have strengthened Shubman Gill). I told him that I had played in the World Cup while battling cancer, so I got ready quickly to join the team. Hopefully, he will be ready for the India vs Pakistan game.

When you have a fever and dengue it is really tough to play a cricket match and I have experienced that. So I hope that if he is fit then he will definitely play.

India started off their World Cup campaign strongly by decimating both Australia and Afghanistan in the first two matches respectively.

While KL Rahul and Virat Kohli anchored Indias victory against Australia, skipper Rohit Sharma hit a ton to ensure the second win for men in blue.
