In Men’s Cricket, Indian bowlers restricted Hosts Sri Lanka at 284 in their first innings, taking a lead of 178 runs at Stumps on Day 3 of the first Test in Galle. Manav Suthar led the wickets column for India with four scalps, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up three. Jadeja became only the fourth player in Test cricket history to reach the milestone of 350 wickets and 4,000 runs. He is also the first Indian left arm bowler to achieve the haul.
For Hosts, Sonal Dinusha scored his maiden Test century, while Niroshan Dickwella made 80.
Earlier in the day, India were bowled out for 462 in their first innings after adding just two runs in their yesterday’s score of 460 for nine. Devdutt Padikkal was India’s top scorer with 167, while KL Rahul made 82 and Dhruv Jurel contributed 51. For Sri Lanka, Prabath Jayasuriya claimed four wickets, Keshara Nuwantha took three, and Asitha Fernando picked up two.
The second and final Test of the series will be played in Colombo from 23rd of this month.
