Opposition party, CPM submitted nominations for Teliamura Municipal Council, Ambassa Municipal Council and Sabroom Nagar Panchayat polls submitted nominations on Friday – on the third day of nomination filing.

For the 15-seat Teliamura Municipal Council, total 10 CPM candidates submitted nominations at the SDM office in Chakmaghat. Security arrangements were tightened to avert any untoward incident during the submission of nominations. Led by SDPO Sonacharan Debbarma, a large posse of security personnel were deployed in and around the SDM premises.

Speaking to the media, CPM Khowai District secretary Ranjit Debbarma said activities of BJP during the last almost four years have left people dejected and disillusioned. “BJP unleashed a reign of terror in its more than three years of tenure. Besides, BJP has failed to fulfill the pre-poll promises. People have realized it is only CPM which can ensure peace and development”, Debbarma said and exuded confidence that people will cast votes in favour of CPM candidates in ensuing Civic Body Polls.

For the 15-seat Ambassa Municipal Council Polls, CPM has filed nominations for 13 candidates so far. Even as other political parties are yet to finalize their candidate lists, CPM has almost completed the nomination filing process. Unlike yesteryears, CPM candidates along with their proposers completed the nomination filing process.

CPM candidates have also hit the campaign trails and stressing on micro-level communication with voters.

For Sabroom Nagar Panchayat polls, CPM has sprung a surprise in selecting candidates as the party nominated several youth candidates. A total of eight CPM candidates submitted nomination papers to Sabroom SDM Debdas Debbarma. Prior to submitting nominations, local CPM MLA Prabhat Choudhury led an impressive rally.

Meanwhile, BJP in Sabroom has almost completed the selection of candidates and will soon file nomination, party sources said.
