Opposition CPM called for a united fight of all the opposition parties against the ruling BJP in the next assembly elections. The Marxists who held a huge rally in the city’s Swami Vivekananda maidan on Friday to kick start the poll campaign, felt that the people of the state had already become frustrated with the BJP’s misrule and were ready to show the door.

Party’s all India general secretary Sitaram Yechury in his speech claimed that the democracy was at stake in the country under the rule of the BJP governments. And, according to him the Marxists would play a role in saving the country.

He said the BJP was dividing the country on the basis of religion and fomenting communal hatred for political gain. He called upon the people of the state to defeat the BJP-IPFT coalition in the state in the next assembly elections—as the ruling parties made the mockery of the people of the state.

Leader of opposition Manik Sarkar in his speech said that the BJP had destroyed.

“During the last four and half months of its rule in Tripura, the RSS controlled-BJP government on one end failed to meet their promises in the vision document and on the other end brought crisis to the people of this state,” Sarkar said.

Sarkar accused the BJP of rising unemployment rate and said, “Today lakhs of youths would have been employed in Tripura, if the BJP had executed their pre-poll promises made in the 2018 assembly election last.”

“The present government is reluctant to ponder on the rising unemployment scenario across the state, where the youths are being cheated,” Sarkar said and urged the youths not to step on the temptation created by the ruling BJP in the state.

He  appealed to all secular forces to unite and strengthen resistance against the BJP in Tripura and save democracy which is at stake presently.

CPM state secretary Jitendra Choudhuri on the other hand challenged the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to publish the details of the implementations of the BJP’s 2018 Vision Document on White Paper.

“I challenge Manik Saha from this open field that if he has a minimum political morality, then let him probe how his government executed the vision document in a white paper within a span of one week,” he said.

Choudhury alleged that during the last four and half years, the BJP government had unleased terror tactics across the state, where the people of this state, who voted for the BJP in 2018 last are being targeted.

The rally was attended by party workers and supporters from across the state.
