The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone – III conference for the North Eastern states has officially commenced today at Agartala. The event, declared open by Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, aims to promote dialogue, cooperation, and development among the participating states.
Earlier on Sunday , addressing the press at his official chamber in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen expressed his delight at hosting the conference. He mentioned that the dignitaries, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, high officials, and assembly secretaries from all North Eastern states, have been arriving in Tripura since Sunday to participate in the conference.
As part of the itinerary, the esteemed guests, who have been graciously declared as state guests by the Tripura government, will have the opportunity to explore various places of interest across the state. Notably, a visit to Matabari is scheduled for Monday morning, followed by their presence at the CPA Conference at the assembly conference hall around 12:30 pm.
Presiding over the conference will be Arunachal Pradesh Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, bringing his invaluable insights and experiences to the table. Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen emphasized the significance of the Act-East policy implemented under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the unprecedented development witnessed across the entire North East region and mentioned that discussions on crucial topics such as communication, connectivity, infrastructure, and National Highways would be held during the conference.
The conference will also decide the venue and chairman for the upcoming North East CPA Conference, shaping the future trajectory of regional parliamentary cooperation. However, the Speaker informed that due to the alarming situation in Manipur, the Speaker of the state would regrettably be unable to attend the conference.
At the press conference, Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul and chief whip Kalyani Roy, among others, were present, demonstrating the collective commitment of Tripura to ensuring the success of the CPA conference.
The CPA conference is expected to foster greater understanding, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among the North Eastern states, further strengthening the parliamentary system and contributing to the region’s progress and prosperity.
