The state government is going enforce the Covid related restrictions and norms for the general public in view of the Omicron threats across the country, the number of Covid cases is showing an upward trend in the state. Speacial drives are being carried out to ensure wearing of masks and maintaining all other restrictios while and individual comes out in the public.
Though, there is no case of Omicron infection in the state so far, the increasing number of Covid cases among many of the incoming passengers appeared as a matter of concern.
According to an official report, tests of as many as 2879 samples were conducted on Tuesday. Among them, 48 persons were detected Covid positive. Similarly on Monday, 1699 samples were tested and 12 samples were found positive.
According to the report, total 155 Covid-infected patients were under treatment in the state as on January 4.
While the state government made wearing of mask compulsory in public places with effect from January 1 last, the administration is carrying out frequent drives in the city and imposing spot fines in case of violation of guidelines.
Meanwhile, an official said the government is closely monitoring the situation and all preparations have been put in place to deal with any eventuality.
