CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Tuesday said he did not take any minister’s name and only quoted news media and social media reports relating to the alleged commission acceptance by some of the ruling party leaders.

His denial came one day after Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury threw an open challenge to probe his claim that ‘some cabinet members were involved in taking commission from suppliers and contractors’.

“I only referred to the news media and social media reports. Government would have taken action against them had these reports been wrong”, said the former MP and then added that he would like to see the government take legal steps against him as any such move would give him the opportunity to bring out all corruption in the open.

“It will be easier for me if government takes any legal step”, said Choudhury virtually accepting the challenge that the ICA minister had thrown unto him.

Choudhury said, in case of legal steps he would bring to fore the issues relating to sudden increase of huge financial ability of some BJP leaders.

“Earlier I claimed of irregularities in the electricity corporation and it was probed after the contractors screamed high in front of the TSECL office in the recent past in demand of their pending bills,” adding to this Choudhury said, “It is clear from the fact that where does the commission goes and who are taking advantages out of it.”

He continued targeting the ICA Minister and challenged him further to probe transparency in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna Scheme.

“As I claimed that houses under PMAY are being provided in exchange of money amounting to Rs. 5000 to Rs. 40000, I would like to ask the ICA minister to challenge my claim by accessing to the IT cell of his government and unearth the social media posts where people are accusing the government over the irregularities,” he said.
