In a much coveted appreciation the High Court of Tripura has praised the efficiency of two Tripura police officers- Rana Chatterjee and Jayanta Kumar Dey for their successful tracing and then rescuing of a girl who had been lured and the trafficked to Mumbai by a criminal gang using online dating platform.
The girl was resident of Chailengta in Dhalai district,.
In the course of investigation done by Inspector Rana Chatterjee, who came back to Tripura from CBI deputation in Mumbai and joined the Crime Branch last year, and Inspector Jayanta Kumar Dey, the missing girl was finally traced at Mira Road of Mumbai.
The accused was also arrested in Mumbai and taken to Tripura on transit remand in December last. He is still in jail at L.T. Valley. The victim girl was shifted to a protective home in Thane under appropriate judicial order.
The High Court of Tripura had taken a suo-moto- WP(C)(HC) No. 05/2021 and monitored the investigation process.
Finally, after going through the report, the High Court of Tripura on February 14 last praised the efficient action taken by the two police officers and also ordered to bring the victim back home.
As recommended by the High Court of Tripura, Advocate General Siddhartha Shankar Dey has written a letter to the Director General of Police on Tuesday requesting him to issue appropriate commendation in favour of the two police officers for the commendable service rendered by them ensuring that the flag of Tripura Police keeps on flattering high.
