Senior Congress leader and MLA Birajit Sinha has strongly criticized the BJP-led government in Tripura, accusing it of failing to manage the communal unrest in the state. Sinha’s remarks came during a press conference held at Kailasahar Congress Bhavan, where he highlighted the recent violent incidents in Kadamtala, North Tripura.
Sinha claimed that the BJP’s inability to effectively address communal tensions, which have allegedly risen since the party’s second term in power, is responsible for the unrest. Referring to past incidents in Gandacherra and Ranirbazar, he criticized the government’s failure to prevent similar violence in Kadamtala.
“If the situation at Kadamtala is not normalized soon, we will launch a civil disobedience movement against the BJP-led coalition government,” warned Sinha. He accused the government of having an indifferent attitude toward such incidents and expressed concerns over the potential for further unrest.
In a related statement, Unakoti district Congress president Md. Badruzzaman also blamed the local administration, particularly North Tripura SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, alleging that the police mishandled the situation. Badruzzaman claimed that the SP was present during the violence and that the police had yet to hand over the body of a Muslim youth who was killed in the unrest.
