Opposition Congress organized a civil disobedience agitation on Friday in Tripura. The agitation programme that involved all the party wings in Agartala was led by among other PCC president Birajit Sinha ,Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman , former PCC president Gopal Roy, former minister Billal Mia among others.
In the capital the Congress march to Raj Bhawan was stopped by police where the party leaders in their speech came down heavily on the ruling BJP.
Roy Barman made a scathing attack on the ruling party for failing to meet the aspirations of the common people and voters and called upon the people to come out in protest.
Roy Barman in referring to the price hike of the essential commodities and unemployment problems in the state said that the BJP-IPFT government here could not take any positive step to tide over the problems.
He maintained that all the talks about self- reliance of the youths and easy loans for them from the banks were all being fished out to hoodwink the unemployed youths.
“In reality it is anybody’s experience that the banks are overtly reluctant to give loans to the youths who go to them with business proposals. They are always turned down by citing one or another pretext , mostly asking for property mortgage etc”, he said.
There is a huge gap between aspirations and hard reality and stuck in the midst of this darkness the youths plunge into the abyss of drugs addictions and ever rising suicides, said the Congress MLA adding that in Tripura due to depressions Tripura stood one among the states that recorded highest of suicides in the country.
He sought to slam the government for failing to arrest the increasing drugs menace in the state. Besides , for treatment of the patients of drugs additions they had to depend on the private entities.
