After receiving the rare coloured cauliflowers from one of the young farmers of Golaghati, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday last appealed and encouraged the farmers to enhance their earnings by growing the cauliflower of its rare variety.

Sajal Debnath belonging to a farmers’ family of Golaghat Panchayat who once dreamt of joining army had switched over to farming and joined his father in agricultural field. He readied one and half kani of his land to grow coloured- cauliflowers of yellow. This particular variety is known as ‘Kertina’ and another variety of violet cauliflower as ‘valentina’.

Sajal Debnath is earning a good amount of money with this cauliflower varities. Though some of his coloured cauliflowers were damaged due to unseasonal rain previous year, but with a support and techniques from the concerned agriculture department, Sajal managed to grow quite a good quantity of cauliflowera which cost higher than the normal white colour cauliflowers in the market.

Sajal Debnath gifted the Chief Minister two different cauliflowers of yellow and violet colours.

Sajal Debnath toldd the Chief Minister that the coloured cauliflowers ranged from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 per kgs in the market which is higher than the normal cauliflower of white colour. He also informed the Chief MIniser that the coloured cauliflowers also had much demand in the market.

The Chief Minister encouraged farmer Sajal Debnath for enhancing his livelihood with innovative idea of growing vegetables.
