The trailer launch of Cocktail 2 descended into chaos after influencers were given priority seating over media representatives, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and a media boycott. Poor venue management, cramped arrangements, and technical issues overshadowed the unveiling of the Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna starrer.
The much-anticipated trailer launch of the upcoming romantic drama Cocktail 2 turned controversial on Tuesday after alleged mismanagement at the event led to chaos, frustration among journalists, and a boycott by members of the electronic media.
What was expected to be a glamorous unveiling of one of the year’s most awaited films instead became a talking point for all the wrong reasons. Several media representatives expressed disappointment over the event’s organization, claiming that social media influencers were given priority seating while members of the press were left struggling for space and visibility.
According to attendees, the venue was overcrowded and poorly arranged, creating discomfort for both journalists and guests. Many media personnel found it difficult to view the stage clearly or hear the conversations taking place due to inadequate sound arrangements. The cramped seating and lack of proper coordination further added to the confusion.
The situation escalated when members of the electronic media reportedly failed to receive the official event feed necessary for broadcasting coverage. As a result, several television journalists and camera crews chose to boycott the event in protest, highlighting concerns about the growing preference for influencer marketing over traditional media engagement at film promotions.
Despite the disruptions, the makers unveiled the trailer of Cocktail 2, offering audiences a glimpse into a contemporary tale of love, friendship, and emotional complexities. Set against a picturesque summer backdrop, the trailer showcases the intertwined lives of three central characters and promises a blend of romance, drama, and heartfelt moments.
The film features a star-studded cast led by Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna. The movie serves as a sequel to the popular 2012 hit Cocktail, though it introduces a fresh storyline and a new set of characters while retaining the spirit that made the original film a fan favorite.
Speaking at the event, Kriti Sanon shared her enthusiasm for the project, describing Cocktail 2 as a visually refreshing and emotionally relatable film. She noted that the story explores modern relationships in a realistic manner, celebrating friendship and love through a contemporary lens. She also praised the film’s music, calling it one of its strongest highlights.
Rashmika Mandanna echoed similar sentiments, stating that the film beautifully combines themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery. She added that the trailer captures the warmth and fun-filled dynamic among the lead characters and encouraged audiences to enjoy the film with friends and family on the big screen.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan, and Ankur Garg, Cocktail 2 is directed by Homi Adajania and written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain. While the trailer generated excitement among fans, the controversy surrounding the launch event has also sparked discussions within the entertainment industry about media relations and event management standards.
