Coal Sector has achieved 10.9 percent growth in December, 2023 due to a substantial surge in coal production. According to the Coal Ministry, the coal production touched 84.52 million tonnes production mark in the last month by surpassing 76.16 million tonnes recorded in the corresponding month of the previous year.
The Coal Ministry has played a pivotal role in driving this growth through various strategic initiatives. Various steps have been taken by the government to augment the domestic production through auction-based regime for commercial coal mining and reopening of discontinued mines on a revenue-sharing model.
