Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha called upon citizens to take a pledge to resist all forces threatening the nation’s integrity, sovereignty, and harmony. His remarks came during the Tricolor Yatra program, organized by the district administration at Ramchandraghat in Khowai district, as part of the lead-up to the 78th Independence Day celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of unity and harmony among people of different nations, tribes, and communities. “The bond of unity and harmony in our country must be strengthened. One of the objectives of the Har Ghar Tiranga program is to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for our nation’s independence and to safeguard its sovereignty and integrity,” he stated.

The Tricolor Yatra, a major event in the district, began with a large rally at Ramchandraghat Chowmuhani, culminating at Battali Higher Secondary School, where the main ceremony was held. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and local residents, all waving the national flag in a show of patriotism.

Dr. Saha, speaking as the chief guest, reminded the audience of India’s journey to independence, which began on August 15, 1947. He highlighted the significance of the Har Ghar Tiranga program, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, which encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes to honor the freedom fighters and defenders of the country’s sovereignty.

“In response to the Prime Minister’s call, the Har Ghar Tiranga program has been successfully implemented across the state. We continued this initiative in 2023, and it remains a vital part of our Independence Day celebrations this year,” Dr. Saha added. He also noted that the program was recently underscored by Prime Minister Modi at the Chief Ministers’ Conclave in Delhi.

The event was graced by the presence of People’s Welfare Minister Vikas Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, District Magistrate Chandrani Chandran, Superintendent of Police, and other distinguished officials.
