Telangana Formation Day is being celebrated across the state and outside the country. The National Flag will be hoisted at official programmes and government offices to mark the Formation Day. Telangana was formed as the 29th state in the country on this day in 2014 through the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will be hoisting the tricolour at an official event to be held at Secunderabad Parade Grounds later this morning.
Meanwhile, the state government has announced its annual ‘Pathakam’ (पतकम) awards to over 460 officers, recognising their exceptional service, bravery and commitment among police and fire services personnel. Among the most prestigious honours, the Telangana Police Shourya Pathakam, awarded for acts of valour, has been announced to Ch. Mahesh, G. Shobhan and A. Rakesh Kumar from the elite Greyhounds unit.
For highly distinguished service, the Telangana Police Mahonnatha Seva Pathakam will be conferred upon B. Srinivas Rao and others, besides several other senior officers from various commissionerates and special units.
The medals, which also carry cash rewards, will be formally presented during the Formation Day celebrations later today.
Meanwhile, the state Government is expected to make a slew of major announcements on the occasion of Telangana state Formation Day, with a focus on employment, welfare and agriculture.
