The present government believes in action rather than words. The government aims to impact lives through developmental works, enunciated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after officially inaugurating 3 schemes under Agartala Municipal Corporation and Agartala Smart City at a programme organised at Grandius Chowmuhni nearby Maharajganj Bazar, Agartala yesterday. The schemes inaugurated by the Chief Minister yesterday were renaming of Sarla crossroad nearby Kaman Chowmuhni to Bir Bikram Chowmuhni, construction of thematic bus shelter in front of Umakanta Academy, Nandanagar and IGM hospital and construction of flood drainage pump at Maharajganj Bazar.
Chief Minister in the programme said, the present state government aims to take the state ahead towards development along with the people of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always expressed his respect for the tribals. In this context, the island nearby Kaman Chowmuhni will be renamed as Maharaja Bir Bikram Chowmuhni. Known as Modern Tripura’s architect, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya’s statue was unveiled at the island.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar said, efforts have been made to beautify the city through various ways under Agartala Smart City project after the present government came into power. The government is working to meet the need of the public and to quickly resolve their issues. Initiatives have been taken to provide good citizen centric services to the people, improve water drainage system including roads, repair drainage system and beautify the city.
Chief Executive Officer of Agartala Smart City Limited Sailesh Kumar Yadav said, about 20 lakh rupees has been spent in the renaming of MBB college. 90 lakh rupees has been spent in the construction of newly built passenger shed in front of Umakanta Academy, Nandanagar and IGM Hospital under Smart City Mission. Flood drainage pump has been installed for water drainage at Maharajganj Bazar at the cost of 1 crore 69 lakh rupees. He said, there were 16 pumps before, it is the 17th pump. Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Monika Das Dutta, Additional Municipal Commissioner of AMC Md. Sajjad and social worker Sanjoy Saha were present in the programme.
