In a significant move towards promoting public welfare, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the indigenous spices distribution program today. The program, organized by the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department, aims to provide packaged spices to consumers at subsidized rates through Fair Price Shops. The event took place at Rabindra Bhawan, Agartala, where the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s unwavering efforts to address public concerns promptly.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to public welfare and its proactive approach to resolving issues. “Our government believes in finding solutions and resolving issues promptly. We take every problem as a challenge and work tirelessly to provide solutions,” stated the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister attributed the opportunity for local entrepreneurs to supply ground spices to the Fair Price Shops as a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local.” This initiative not only supports indigenous businesses but also contributes to the state’s economic growth. Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized that the improved industrial infrastructure and connectivity in the state have attracted both local and external investors, bolstering the state’s economy.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the upcoming connectivity through Maitri Setu in Sabroom, stating, “Once the connectivity opens, Tripura shall become the gateway to South-East Asia, transforming the state’s economy.” He also highlighted the considerable improvements in the state’s infrastructure, including National Highway roads, airways, and internet connectivity. These advancements reflect Tripura’s progress towards the vision of “Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura” (One Tripura, Best Tripura).

Strengthening the Public Distribution System (PDS) was another key focus mentioned by the Chief Minister. He highlighted the government’s initiative to deliver essential ration items to every citizen at subsidized rates through Fair Price Shops, ensuring that no one is left behind. Additionally, the Chief Minister mentioned the distribution of Fortified Rice under the Mid-Day Meal and ICDS Project, which aims to provide complete nutrition to the public. Moreover, the government has provided Antyodaya Ration Cards to the Bru Reang refugees.

Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department, highlighted the department’s initiatives to strengthen the Public Distribution System. He informed the audience that Tripura has secured the 5th position nationwide and first among special category states in implementing the National Food Safety Act.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nirmal Adhikari, Director of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department. Ratan Debnath, the owner of M/s Annada Spices Industry, also expressed his gratitude and shared his thoughts on the occasion.
