Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that there is no dearth of talent in Tripura and in the field of arts and culture, boys and girls of the state are making Tripura proud with excellent performances at various levels.

Dr. Saha said this while attending the State Level Kala Utsav-2023 organized by Samagra Siksha, Tripura, Education (School) Department, in Town Hall at 4:00 PM.

“One of the aims of the festival is to increase interest in arts and culture among school students and encourage them to develop their talents. Every child has artistic talent. Kala Utsav is one of the platforms for developing this talent, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Since then, this festival has been organized every year at the district, state, and national levels,” said Dr. Saha.

The chief minister also emphasized in the event that along with education, the main aim of Kala Utsav is to encourage the development of students’ talent in the field of arts and culture, care for their talent, and display their talent on a larger stage.

“Another important aim of organizing this festival from the district level to the national level is to highlight the cultural diversity of the country among the students,” added Dr. Saha.

Students of classes IX to XII of government, government-aided, and private schools can participate in this festival. Students can participate in ten categories: classical vocal and instrumental music, classical folk music, music, lyrical instrumental music, classical and folk dance, two-dimensional and three-dimensional painting, traditional local-style puppetry, and solo drama. A total of 160 students from the state participated in this year’s festival.

All have secured first place at the district level and participated in the state level. Those who stand first at the state level will showcase their talent at the national level competition in Delhi from January 1 to 12 next year.

The Chief Minister mentioned that every year, the children of the state have achieved very proud results at the national level.

“Not only participation, but they have also made us proud by bringing awards for the state with their achievements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited students from the state topping the national competition to participate in his popular program ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha.’ They represent the state by being there and enhancing the reputation of the state,” he said.

During the event Secretary of Education Department Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Director Higher Education Department NC Sharma and others were present.
