Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inspected the work of Light House Project at Border Golchakkar today. during his visit, the Chief Minister acquainted himself about various problems in implementing the project and directed the concerned officials to take immediate steps to solve them. While speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, this is a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to alleviate the crisis of housing among the lower and the middle-class families in the country. The construction of light houses in six states of the country is underway. The work of this project in Chennai already has been completed. The government aims to complete the Light House Project in the state as soon as possible. During his visit, the Chief Minister informed the media that the Light House Project is an unparalleled step by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards building housing for the poor section of the country. This Project will solve housing problem in the state. The concerned officials have been directed to resolve all the problems in the project as soon as possible.
It is to be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Light House Project on January 1, 2021. The Project will have 1000 housings of state-of-art technology. The Project is ingoing on 33 thousand square meters land at Golchakkar Bazar in Agartala-Akhaura border area. More than 900 persons have already booked the house in advance. It will have seven-storey building. The Project cost is Rs 162.50 crore and each house will have an area of 30 square meters. This will cost 16.25 lakh rupees.
Others present during the visit were Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of Urban Development department Kiran Gitte and West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan.
