Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb laid the foundation stone of Kamalpur (India) – Kurmaghat (Bangladesh) Border Haat on Thursday. The border haat will spread to 75 square meters and can accommodate 100 vendors on each side. This will further boost the trade between India and Bangladesh.
Commerce Minister of Bangladesh Tipu Munshi , Industry and Commerce Minister of #Tripura Manoj Kanti Deb , Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami and MP of Bangladesh Md. Abdus Shahid and TIDC chairman Tinku Roy attended the programme .
Soon after the inauguration the Chief Minister took to his Social media handle nad said “
Under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Tripura is steadily marching ahead on the path of development. I am sure the work of the border haat will occur at maximum speed and the haat will be inaugurated soon”.
he proposed Border Haat would be set up near border gate no- 134 on 1.36 acre land in the Indian side and another 1.36 acre land in the Bangladesh side.
The new Border Haat would allow 100 vendors and 150 buyers each from both the countries. A vendor would be allowed to sell products of maximum 200 dollars. The proposed Border Haat will remain open on every Tuesday from 11 am to 2.30 pm. Total 18 products including fish and dry fish will be allowed for sale.
The new Border Haat would have a Common Facilitation Centre, one conference hall, one medical unit and a bankers’ room for exchange of currencies. Besides, separate public convenience would be there.
At present two border haats are functioning in Tripura- one at Srinagar of South Tripura and the other at Kamalasagar in Sepahijala district
