In Telangana, heavy rains continue to lash northern districts, even as there has been some letdown in the rains since morning in the rest of the state. Nirmal District has recorded over 71 mm of rainfall since morning.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited the rain-hit Khammam and Suryapet districts and reviewed the relief measures with senior officials. After reviewing the damages due to the Munneru stream, the Chief Minister announced 10 thousand rupees as immediate assistance to each of the affected families. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the situation a national calamity.

Despite there being some respite in the rain since morning, people in flood-affected areas are still grappling with the situation. Several villages remained waterlogged due to flooding. The local authorities have stepped up measures to bring normalcy to the affected areas in Khammam district and are making all-out efforts to restore the road linkages and repair the railway lines, which were washed away. They initiated works worth 650 crore rupees to repair the retaining wall of Munneru stream. Traffic on the Hyderabad-VVijayawada National Highway has been diverted through other routes. Meanwhile, NDRF teams are carrying out the rescue operations in the rain-hit areas. Meanwhile, Met officials have issued an alert that moderate rain is likely in some districts for the next 24 hours.
