The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended support to the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally in Delhi over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, raising concerns about voter exclusion and calling for the protection of every eligible citizen’s democratic rights.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its support to the opposition INDIA bloc’s proposed rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1, raising concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and calling for the protection of eligible citizens’ voting rights.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the party’s position in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday. The party said it would support organisations campaigning for free and fair elections and stressed that the fundamental principle of democracy is that people should choose their government, rather than governments deciding who can vote.
In its statement, the CJP alleged that the SIR exercise had raised serious concerns about the possible exclusion of eligible voters from electoral rolls. The party also called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, arguing that accountability was necessary to restore public confidence in the Election Commission. These are the party’s allegations and demands; they do not establish that eligible voters have been unlawfully removed.
CJP Emphasises Constitutional Right to Vote
Referring to the vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and other framers of the Constitution, the CJP highlighted the principle of universal adult suffrage, under which eligible adult citizens have equal voting rights irrespective of caste, religion, gender, educational qualifications or economic background.
The party argued that the Constitution makers placed their faith in the people when India adopted democratic governance, despite the fact that millions of citizens had little or no previous experience of participating in elections.
According to the CJP, the objective was to expand democratic participation and ensure that every eligible citizen had an equal opportunity to influence the country’s future. It expressed concern that the electoral roll revision process had created apprehensions about exclusion instead of making the voting process more accessible.
The party maintained that the Election Commission has a responsibility to safeguard eligible citizens’ voting rights and ensure that electoral procedures do not unnecessarily prevent people from exercising their franchise.
Dipke presented the party’s support for the November 1 rally as a commitment to the broader national interest rather than a purely partisan position. The CJP also declared that it would stand with organisations working to protect free and fair elections.
INDIA Bloc Plans Rally at Ramlila Maidan
The INDIA bloc has planned the November 1 rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan as part of its campaign against alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process. Opposition parties are seeking accountability from the Election Commission and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Congress-led alliance has received permission from Delhi Police to hold the rally, subject to specified conditions. According to reports, the gathering is scheduled between 10 am and 5 pm, with arrangements and restrictions concerning crowd management, traffic, speeches and the dispersal of participants.
The opposition’s campaign centres on allegations that the SIR process could result in eligible voters being excluded from electoral rolls. Opposition leaders have called for the exercise to be reviewed and for the restoration of names allegedly removed incorrectly.
The Election Commission’s role in revising electoral rolls has consequently become a major point of political debate, with opposition parties demanding greater accountability and safeguards for voters.
Debate Over Electoral Transparency Continues
The CJP’s endorsement adds another organisation to the range of voices expressing support for the opposition’s campaign. Although the party has announced its backing for the rally, its public statement does not establish whether its members will physically participate in the November 1 gathering.
The ruling side has rejected opposition criticism of the electoral process as politically motivated, while the Election Commission has maintained that its decisions concerning the SIR exercise are lawful. The competing positions have kept the issue of electoral transparency and voter-list revision in the political spotlight.

As the November 1 rally approaches, the INDIA bloc is seeking to bring together opposition parties and supporters around its demands concerning electoral roll revision and the Election Commission’s accountability.
The central issue remains the protection of eligible citizens’ voting rights, the accuracy of electoral rolls and public confidence in the institutions responsible for conducting elections. The rally is expected to provide the opposition with a platform to present its demands, while the debate over the SIR process continues.
