Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai is arriving in Kathmandu today evening, marking his first visit to Nepal since assuming office. CJI Gavai is the 52nd Chief Justice of India. He will attend the Nepal-India Judicial Dialogue in Kathmandu on Friday and will have an exclusive meeting with CJ of Nepal, Prakashman Singh Raut. He will visit the Buddhist Cultural city of Lumbini as well as UNESCO Cultural Heritage sites of Patan and Pashupatinath in Kathmandu.
There has been continuous judicial cooperation between the two neighbours. Previously in 2024, CJI DY Chandrachud paid a three-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Chief Justice of Nepal Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.
