Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai said that the Indian legal system has been facing unique challenges and is badly in need of fixing.
In his address at the 22nd Annual Convocation of NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad today, Chief Justice Gavai said even though our legal system is badly in need of fixing, he remains optimistic that his fellow citizens will rise to the challenges. He said the country and its legal system are facing unique challenges like delays in trials which can sometimes go for decades. He also mentioned that in certain cases someone has been found innocent after spending years in jail as an under trial.
He advised the passing out graduates to seek mentors not for their power, but for integrity. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Supreme Court Judge Justice PS Narasimha also participated in the convocation. The convocation function was presided over by acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, Justice Sujoy Paul.
